Magnesium is a strategically vital metal, underpinning industries that are essential to Europe's economic resilience and technological advancement. It is indispensable in aluminium production, lightweight automotive, aerospace manufacturing, defense technologies and emerging hydrogen storage solutions.

Recognizing its importance, the European Union has designated magnesium metal as both a Critical and Strategic Raw Material. Yet despite this, Europe continues to rely on China for more than 95% of its primary magnesium supply.

MFE shareholders control one of the world's purest and most homogeneous dolomite (calcium magnesium carbonate) deposits - the ideal raw material feedstock for high-quality magnesium production.

We are committed to strengthening Europe's supply security, enhancing technological sovereignty, and accelerating the transition to a greener industrial future. By combining exceptional raw material access with state-of-the-art production technology, we are developing Europe's first low-carbon, cost-competitive primary magnesium production facility in more than 20 years, located near Wilhelmshaven.

Our Mission And Vision

It is MFE’s strong ambition to re-establish primary Magnesium production in Europe, offer clean, green, and competitive Magnesium metal, and help reduce the critical raw material dependence of European industry.

By establishing an innovative, eco-friendly, and sustainable Magnesium production in Wilhelmshaven (Germany), MFE will create jobs for the region, promote local economic growth, set new environmental standards, and create a light house project that will benefit the local community and European industry.

MFE’s project has been submitted for recognition under the European Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) and has already been recognised by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) as well as the European Raw Materials Alliance (ERMA).
