MFE Magnesium For Europe GmbH was founded in 2021 to develop a clean, green and competitive Magnesium production in Europe on the basis of an actively mined and majority controlled dolomite (calcium magnesium carbonate) deposit in Bosnia-Herzegovina, just 50km away from the current EU border. MFE is close to finalising the planning phase. Its targeted production process, the Alumino-thermic process, is a physical process without the need for chemicals. The process adheres to strict environmental regulations. It is designed to be safe for both the environment and local residents. All by-products are repurposed to achieve the most efficient operation.

MFE operates in Bosnia-Herzegovina through its wholly-owned subsidiary BH Magnezij & Minerali d.o.o. ("BH Magnezij"), ensuring close alignment with local market needs and regulations. BH Magnezij is committed to collaborating with the local community, contributing to infrastructural developments, enhancing the quality of life, and fostering long-term partnerships in the region.

Our Mission And Vision

It is MFE’s strong ambition to re-establish primary Magnesium production in Europe, offer clean, green, and competitive Magnesium metal, and help reduce the critical raw material dependence of European industry.

By establishing an innovative, eco-friendly, and sustainable Magnesium production in Kupres (BiH), MFE will create jobs for the region, promote local economic growth, set new environmental standards, and create a light house project that will benefit the local community, the regional economy, and European industry.

MFE’s project has been submitted for recognition under the European Critical Raw Materials Act (CRMA) and has already been recognised by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) as well as the European Raw Materials Alliance (ERMA).
